Great Questions Are Not Enough!
Only when we truly love those we wish to coach, can we ask the question which makes the difference.
Whilst coaching a client, asking great questions is not enough. Only once we truly listen with understanding can effective questioning become intuitive and lead to a process of discovery of potential and limitations.
When we merely strictly follow a questioning script, even one as valuable as LCA’s GROW model, we run the risk of destroying the relationship and ‘client focus’ that we have worked so hard to develop.
When this is lost coaching loses real value, and becomes just another irrelevant, pre-packaged formula.
Is it “true listening, total concentration on the other”, as M. Scott Peck describes it in his book “The Road less travelled”, which begins the journey of discovery and as a result displays the manifestation of love?
